I Love the Philippines Photo Contest Year 3

Join the philstar.com’s I Love the Philippines Photo Contest Year 3. This is their 3rd year on volunTOURism as it promotes Philippine expedition, the love of nature, and the various ways of discovering and exploring the frontiers of the Philippine Islands. This year’s edition is entitled “The Pinas Expedition! Lakbay Dagat, Lupa at Himpapawid” Photography Contest. Capture the zest of the Philippine’s best.

Get a chance to win roundtrip tickets to Cebu, Davao, Kalibo or Puerto Princesa with Zest Air! They are now open for entries in photographs that document/feature our country’s best-kept destinations together with all the travel escapades yet to be explored. It is your chance to again take part in promoting the country’s scenic destinations with the rest of the world!

Unleash your creativity by sending photos of your favorite vacation hotspots and travel escapades that capture Air, Land and Underwater adventures. All submitted materials must highlight the Philippines’ uniqueness and picturesque destinations that promote tourism. See the mechanics below for more details.

Mechanics:

1. The photography contest is open to all photo enthusiasts (hobbyist, amateur or professional Photographers) who have experienced exploring the Philippine frontiers.
2. Participants may use any digital camera. An entry must be an original work and free from copyright, must have been taken between July 2009 to July 2010, have not been published or exhibited in any printed or online media prior to the contest and have not previously won in any photography competition. philstar.com may at its absolute discretion either disqualify a participant’s entry or select at its absolute discretion entries to go forward for judging or reject the material.
3. Submitted entries must highlight the theme The Pinas Expedition! Lakday Dagat, Lupa at Himpapawid under any of the three categories: UNDERWATER Adventure, LAND Adventure or AIR Adventure. In submitting the entry, original file must be sent to marketing@philstar.com in jpeg format, not exceeding maximum resolution of 6 megapixels, minimum 180 dpi. Subject line of email must read ILP Year 3 photography contest entry. Maximum of 3 entries may be submitted by a participant.The following info should be indicated: TITLE of entry, Date & location picture was taken, Full name of participant, Address and Mobile number. Entry description with minimum of 50 words shall be included.

4. Digitally retouched outputs are not allowed. Creative effects done within the camera at the time of exposure e.g. multiple exposures, flash fill, lighting, filtration, etc. are allowed. Digital retouching on density, contrast adjustments, minor cropping, burning, and dodging may be tolerated.
5. Criteria for judging: (1) Technical Proficiency 25% (2) Creativity and Originality 30% (3) Faithfulness to the theme 20% (4) Overall Impact 25%
6. The judges’ decision is final.
7. Submission of entries is from April 5 to July 31, 2010 at 5p.m. Judging of winners will be streamed live on August 22, 2010 at www.philstar.com. Participants will be invited to watch the live judging ceremony at philstar.com to see the jurors commenting on their masterpiece during the actual eliminations.

Note: A participant may win only once. Ticket prizes originate from Manila. Winners residing outside the Philippines should assign a representative to claim their prize.


9. Relatives of philstar.com, Arya Residences, ArthaLand, justgo.ph, and Zest Air employees to the second degree of consanguinity and affinity are disqualified from joining the contest.
10. All entries become the property of philstar.com, which will have the right to exhibit or publish the images for promotional purposes, indicating/acknowledging the photographer. philstar.com may display the prints in a public venue, or publish them for the purpose of promoting philstar.com’s I Love Philippines contest, without any financial compensation to the photographers.
